It's time to head to Baja's wine country to sample some of the regions best wines. August is a busy time in the valley because the grapes are ready for harvest. The harvest, or vendimia in Spanish, is a time to celebrate the success of the crop. The wineries have special events which may include concerts, art, dance, and wine pairing. For a listing of the wineries and events in the Guadalupe Valley, visit www.fiestasdelavendimia.com (http://www.fiestasdelavendimia.com). If you do take a trip to the valley, remember to bring a hat and sunscreen!

A wine festival definitely sounds intoxicating-in a good way. I'm a big fan of various wines and I would surely love to taste some of their wine. Can you site some comparison of available wines in Baja for us?
I love going to wine festivals!
I very rarely buy any wine at them however, as I usually get plenty by going from vendor to vendor and enjoying their samples. I particularly love wine and jazz festivals - so relaxing just sitting on a blanket, relaxing, and listening to good music.

Festivals are always a great place to entertain yourself and to get a little bit social with your friends and other people living near you.

Exploring the Baja wine country is a unique adventure in itself because most of the wineries are hidden throughout the valley and accessible by dirt roads. Maps can be obtained in The Baja Times, at local wineries or in the regional wine newsletter, The Guadalupe Grapevine, offering complete directions, maps and updated information. This valley offers the opportunity to visit scenic and undeveloped habitats, meet wonderful folks, discover Mexico’s premier wines and beautiful vineyards, enjoy numerous culinary treats, and relax in a country setting.
