I belong to this great international hosting organization called "Couch Surfing". It's kind of like My Space but for travellers.
You sign-up and create a personal profile, then when you travel, you can look up other "Couch Surfers" in the area where you are going and ask if you can crash with them or "Surf" their couch. Also, when other Couch Surfers are in your area, they can e-mail you and ask if they can Couch Surf with you.
Couch Surfing is a totally free, volunteer driven, non-profit organization. It doesn't cost a cent to join or to stay with other couch surfers. But it's more than just a place to get free lodging when you travel, it's an actual COMMUNITY of travellers and a great way to meet people and make friends from all over the world. It ROCKS! :D
You may be wondering, "Is it safe?" "Do I have to accept all requests for hosting?" "Are there any Couch Surfers where I live?" All these questions and more are answered on the Couch Surfing website at couchsurfing.com.
And if you are ever "Couch Surfing" through Baja, feel free to look me up. :)
Que te vaya bien!
