senorita chiquita,

I would say that It all depends on your skill level and what you feel comfortable with. Do you normally surf at a beach break? Does the thought of surfing a reef sound like too much? It also depends up on how far you want to travel, but there are a ton of surf spots between here and Ensenada that are an easy day trip. For starters I would recommend Raul's. It is a pretty mellow reef break at roughly K-46 that is good for beginners. It is usually better on a medium to high tide and will pick up everything from a southwest to a northwest swell. There is also a kelp bed offshore that keeps the surf clean when the wind picks up. A little farther down at K-72 there is a fun beach break at Baja Seasons Resort. It is a pretty consistent wave and never crowded. Hope this helps out!

Bring your kitesurfing gear if you're going to Raul's, too. Then when it gets windy in the afternoon you can get another 50 waves! If you've never been to baja, we've got a great surf map for Northern Baja that covers a wide variety of breaks from Tijuana to Guerrero Negro.

Baja Malibu is an epic & uncrowded surf spot when it's going off and a fun beach break. This spot makes a nice day trip from Sandiego also.
